This is perfect for all of my outdoorsy couples The Eaton Canyon Falls is in the San Gabriel Mountains and offers a serene, gorgeous setting for your proposal. This area is absolutely gorgeous. The Falls are in the foothills of Altadena and what could be more magical than proposing in front of a waterfall.  And even better, you get to go on a hike through the canyon, surrounded by sky high trees and calming nature sounds. And then at the end of your trek in right in front of the waterfall, you get down on one knee and ask them to marry you. If you don’t want other people to watch your proposal, you can find a secluded spot near the waterfall or propose along the way and take in the waterfall as a newly engaged couple!

Crystal Cove State Park

If you are a beach lover or want both a mountainous and beachy look to your engagement photographs The Crystal Cove State Park is perfect for you. The Crystal Cove State Park offers picture perfect views of the Southern California coastline. The park has beautiful sandy beaches, views of rugged cliffs and the expansive ocean. And nearby there are grassy areas that look like mountainous meadows, so you can even enjoy these. And if you are hiring a photographer, like myself, you can ask them to do multiple looks and have one of them be here. This way there is more diversity in your engagement photographs!

You could even make a day of it and wait until the sun starts to set casting a golden glow across the water. Cielo Farms Vineyards

Personally, I used to dream of getting married on a vineyard, so I think they’re super romantic. So this one goes out to all of my wine lovers. If you are going all out you can rent it out. This ensures your special moment is private and just for you two (and a photographer if you want one). One of the beauties of a vineyard is that a photographer, like myself, can hide amongst the grapevines, snapping shots while your partner is unsuspecting! After you pop the big question, you can enjoy champagne and a glass of wine.

Cielo Farms Vineyard is nestled in the hills of Malibu. It has gorgeous views, creating a marvelous setting for a proposal. There are so many options for how you propose at Cielo Farms. To name a couple: you could propose during a casual wine tasting or while wandering around the rows and rows of grapevines during a beautiful sunset.

Stonewall Ranch Malibu

This one if for my lovers of the outdoors. Stonewall Ranch in Malibu is stunning. It has views of mountain ranges and has trails adorned with wildflowers for you to explore with your partner. So, if you want a private proposal with stunning views of wildflowers and mountains this is perfect for you. There are also grassy areas which would be perfect for engagement photographs or simply your proposal. The ranch is truly breathtaking. All of these attributes, make it one of the best proposal spots in Los Angeles. But, if you have already gotten engaged and are starting to search for your wedding venue, this is a fantastic option!

Franklin Canyon Park

If you want to feel like you’re in a mountain wonderland with beautiful lake to gaze out at, Franklin Canyon Park is the answer to all your questions. Maybe you even get down on one knee on top of their favorite actor’s or musician’s star. Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles is full of high-end fashion, upscale boutiques, and has the occasional celebrity sighting. You could go window shopping, peering into designer labels and funky storefronts. Then once you get bored or in the middle of a shopping spree you can get down on one knee underneath the famed Rodeo Drive sign or in the middle of herds of shoppers and tourists.  

Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden

Earl Burns Miller Japanese Gardens provides a serene, romantic setting among the tranquility of Japanese-inspired landscapes for your proposal. These gardens are located on the California State University, Long Beach campus. So, they are a little bit of a hidden gem, letting you and your partner escape from the fast-moving pace of everyday life. The river stretches for miles and miles throughout the city and provides a peaceful escape from busy streets. Honestly, this makes it a somewhat charming escape and one of the best proposal spots in Los Angeles. You can wander with your partner through the river’s banks, taking in all of the city sounds and scenery. So, depending on where along the Los Angeles River you are, there are so many spots for your proposal. It could be underneath the shade of a massive bridge or alongside a quiet, calm stretch of water.

Los Angeles State Historic Park

The Los Angeles Historic Park is located near downtown Los Angeles. It is a charming park perfect for your proposal. The park is a peaceful escape from the busy city and an amazing choice for an intimate proposal. Before or after you propose, you and your partner can wander around the park’s different paths adorned by greenery and surrounded by historic buildings and various cultural landmarks. There are so many spots within the Los Angeles State Historic Park for you to propose, but one of its beauties compared to other locations on this list is the privacy it offers. So, if you want your proposal to be just between the two of you this might be a winner!

The Broad

If you or your partner are a museum lover or an art lover, this one is for you. The Broad is a contemporary art museum in downtown Los Angeles. Unlike other museums, The Broad has free entry, and provides a stunning variety of artwork, making it the perfect pre- or post-proposal activity. The museum has works from Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jeff Koons, Yayoi Kusama, and Andy Warhol. Inside The Broad itself there are tons of different spots for you to ask your partner to marry you; The Broad is physically close to tons of other romantic locations downtown which would also be wonderful choices for your proposal.

Little Tokyo

Little Tokyo is one of the most iconic neighborhoods in Los Angeles. So, proposing to your partner there offers a culturally rich setting and a vibrant atmosphere. Little Tokyo is in downtown Los Angeles and has a wonderful blend of Japanese culture, cuisine, and community, which make it a good spot for your proposal. Prior to the proposal itself, you can meander along the streets, explore various shops, eat authentic food, and visit cultural landmarks. To name a couple spots in Little Tokyo, you could propose at, you could propose underneath the glowing lanterns in the Japanese Village Plaza, or in the James Irvine Japanese Garden. So, all this goes to say that Little Tokyo is one of the best proposal spots in Los Angeles, in part because there are so many options.

Los Angeles City Hall

The Los Angeles City Hall is in downtown Los Angeles and has stunning architecture that will make the background of your engagement photographs more interesting. There are also grassy areas in front of the City Hall perfect to diversify your engagement photos. Some of my favorites are you and your fiancée walking up the stairs of the historic building holding hands, stopping halfway up to kiss each other, and doing the famous butt lift. If you do not know what this is, it is where you lift your partner up with your hands underneath their butt. Here’s an example:

The Los Angeles City Hall is also perfect if you want multiple destinations, because it is in the heart of downtown LA and therefore close to other prime photo spots like Walt Disney Concert Hall, Angels Flight Stairway, The Last Bookstore, the Bradbury, the list goes on!
